Thanks for that superb narrative of those special times. You really managed to capture the vibe in your words. It was a pleasure and an honour to be part of it and I have said many times before, it really felt like we all in it together. Thanks again for comments, really made me smile. X
PS. I can deffo confirm that you did indeed do a few flyers. I'm not sure they ever got handed out on the streets though. Word got round like wild fire back then. But i remember they looked like photo copies & could pick one up on the ledge near the door usually. Also, in '92-'93 i sort of took on a flyer designer called, Lenny, for my company "Untouchable Productions" and he had Banshee flyers in his portfolio that he said he'd put together. so there you go mate - Flyers were definitely made! Peace Man!
Hey Jay, Thanks for this nostalgic trip back in time to that dark mesmerizing club - a bona fide Underground haven where the collective human conscious experience was guaranteed an exhilarating (sometimes total mind fuckin) ride to the edge of sanity & reality..... and taken there by the wings of beautiful white "Doves". I bought the ticket & took the ride many times - But i make particular note to the Banshee all-nighters that at that time were still illegal - out of all of the clubs doing them too at that time though, when those doors closed behind you in the Banshee & you walked down the stairs, you knew that you was venturing into a sonic holographic wonderland where the only limits were our imaginations & desires :-) and you were the fighter pilots guiding us on our journey. The only other club that could match the Banshee for producing that cerebral out of body experience was the Thunderdome on Oldham Rd! Always felt like Mr Ben in the fancy dress shop when entering the Thunderdome.... A portal to an alternate dimension. Good Days though Kidda. Nice one!
Jesus the memories!!! Both these mixes are going to get a ridiculous amount of play.what was your favourite club Jay, I loved the House Piccadilly Gardens.
As we enter a new reality where events are cancelled for a significant period of time, many of the creators and institutions that we love face an extremely challenging financial future.
