BBE Mixtape Competition 2010 - Part 1

BBE Mixtape Competition 2010 - Part 1

About the show

Playing tracks by

DJ Spinna, Slum Village, Ed O.G. And Da Bulldogs, Visioneers, Starvue and more.

When BBE Records annonced the mixtape competition I just knew that I had to enter. I always felt their music, "Reel Music For Reel People" is what it is. BBE is mos def one of the best labels around. With all of the sick original releases together with the huge compilation catalouge, this mix is not only the best of BBE, it's also my favorite tunes release the past 10 years alongside some timeless pieces.
It was really, really hard to put all of these great songs together, especially since it was a lot of tunes that couldn't be left out. It just had to be two parts of the mixtape to correctly represent the wide and eclectic catalouge of the great label.

This is the first part which more downtempo and featuring some slower jazz, beats, hiphop and neosoul.

Note that the mixes is prestigious recorded live (with Serato Scratch Live, 2X1200s, Pioneer DJM-909 mixer & a SSL Midi Controller for live quick edits). I love doing it like that but I would track, cut etc for a proper release
