We pre-recorded on Easter Monday, marking the day of the first shots fired in the Easter rising 1916. Captain Ian Collins from Collins Barracks, Cork, reads the proclamation specially for IRISH heArts. Our band of the week is Norwegian artist Johannes Broch-Due, calling in from Berlin for a chat with Yvonne Coughlan, fresh from the launch of his album The Newspaper Says. Yvonne told him all about our Ireland 2016 commemoration special. We start in Kinsale, Ireland, where Kinsale and District History Society organised a memorial wreath laying event with guests MC Dermot Ryan, Cllr. Rachel McCarthy, Deputy Michael Collins and Eugene Gillan. We move on to Dublin where The Circle Sessions and A-Musing are part of RTE 1916 Event, and chat with presenter extraordinaire Muireann Ní Sheanlaoich, organiser David Hynes, and poet Daniel Wade. We also hear about the latest production of Pull down a horseman by Eugene McCabe with Dublin Lyric Players, from actor Michael O Sullivan.
