For all the real groove music people - a new mix I put together to feed the current trend for Soul/Funk/Disco/Boogie Edits that still seems to have gripped many dancefloors everywhere. I mean how many parties play 'DISCO' in my home city Manchester ? I personally found most of the scene a tad pastiche and lacking in any true Soul/Funk/Rare Groove when it first started again in another form/scene about 7 years ago but I am very hard to please. Artistically speaking It's v hard to get excited about records you bought 20 years ago that were also twenty years old at the time. But thanks to the love of the NY dance music scene and listening to Mancuso, De Pino, Krivit, Kevorkian, Knuckles etc etc live I listened/ learnt how these records were played and how the scene developed post The Loft/Paradise Garage days. My thoughts were that the new scene was far too 'ploddy'/ European to take seriously but I have a number of friends who love it and I dedicate this mix for them and my RagTag crew.
