AMISOM is due to withdraw from the country as from October next year, with the date for complete withdrawal set to be December 2020. Security matters will then be the responsibility of the Somali armed forces, who are expected to continue getting better training with their number projected to be about twenty thousand by then. AMISOM recently marked their tenth anniversary since they first arrived in Somali capital, Mogadishu. TheSomali government still lacks the capacity to stabilize the entire regions in the country. Some areas are still under the control of Al-Shabab, with the armed group having cut off movement between various settlements and areas. Roads connecting to these towns are not manned by AMISOM or by the Somali Armed Forces.
