2. White Man Falling by Mike Stocks, Bk 1 Ch 9
A story about finding peace in unexpected ways.
This tale of domestic catastrophe & deluded match-making is set in South India. Ex-policeman Swaminathan barely supports his family on half pension. Then he’s ridiculed when a white man falls and dies in front of him.
Jodhi and her 5 sisters are sad when Swami stops talking altogether. This doesn’t stop them teasing Jodhi about Mohan’s handsome brother Anand.
The family was upset when Swami stopped speaking, but now they are shocked when Swami disappears. Unknown to them, he’s decided to end his miserable life by throwing himself under a bus. But before he can do this, a man pushes him over, telling him to ‘stay out of the white man case’.
