Chart positions

This show was 2nd in the global roots reggae chart, 14th in the global dub chart and 24th in the global reggae chart.

Second slice of UK 80s Roots selections focusing on the productions and sounds that set the foundation for the advent of UK Dub. This one favours the steppers productions of Shaka, Aswad and Mad Professor, with some ultra-classics and the odd one-away, and -goes with out saying- many a killer dub cut.… Kick off with a reasonably under the radar 12 ‘Sons of Fari’ and it’s 3rd Dub cut (drum & bas mix)… heavy riddim and horns, slow and easy steppers. Middle segment features the big classics: Aswad’s ‘Natural progression’ (2nd cut, the steppers one... the 1st cut is also a total gem) with 2 dubs (including the Shaka dub), Human Cargo - 'Carry us beyond' (total classic instrumental), Mad Professor’s ‘Kunte Kinte (Vocal / instrumental / Dub… all time classic on the UK steppers scene) and ’Bengali skank’ riddims (Killer Sister Audrey vocal / Shaka vocal / instrumental / Dub). Last segment is pure Shaka productions feat Sis Nya, Vivian Jones and a monster piece of UK Roots from Pablo Gad… bad!
