A selection of classic Roots 7s and 12s, moving into digital at the end. Many of these were anthems on the UK Roots Sound system scene of 70s, from classic 70s Rastafari roots like Fred Locks' Black star liner, Fabian Miranda's Prophecy or Albert Malawi's Children of the Emperor to the more militant late 70s steppers including big tunes like Weed fields, Mr Bossman, HIM, Five man army etc. into 80s Roots killers like Late night blues/Shine eye girl riddim, and Ranking Dread Shut me Mouth (Next cut to Sons of Jah Break down the barriers) . Can't leave out the UK productions from the time, from all time UK roots anthems Hard times and Smoking my Ganja to more obscure but equally Heavy Sceptre's Different style (found in my father in-law's attic in Bham). This mix was recorded at Robin's Friendly Fire studio in Birmingham, in preparation for a night in Manchester were we were hosting Russ Disciples (I discovered so much through his killer mixes.. thanks every time).
