Back to Jamaica this week with a selection of sweet & heavy 80s Roots. Kicking off with the classic Mr Sunshine from Wiss, off his solo LP he did with Jah Life in NY during the break-up period Israel Vibration had before Dr Dread from RAS Records convinced them to re-form. Next up a one-away 7" by Fabulous Five with a Dub Poetry vibe, and a killer ganjaman tune by Teddy Brown (AKA Mr Brown, a Dennis Brown sing alike with killer 80s stuff including some nice digi releases). Then a few cuts on ‘I feel the music’ riddim by Tinga Stewart, John Steel and Yellowman - bad organ lick!. Next up some more Teddy Brown with 2 different 12” versions of Band Man Wagon (BMW…) one on Eruption (a Sugar Minott production… anyone recognise the riddim please gimme a signal, can’t put my finger on it and it’s killing me), the other on Top Ranking, followed by another killer Top Ranking 12 ‘Mr Drummer. Outro on an absolute killer High Times 7” by Jennifer Lara ‘Hand to mouth’, paired with the horns cut…
