70s JA Steppers delight Chapter 7

70s JA Steppers delight Chapter 7

Playing tracks by

Twin Roots, Osibert Madoo, Johnny Osbourne, Hortense Ellis, Prince Jammy and more.

Chart positions

This show was 2nd in the global roots reggae chart, 6th in the global vinyl only chart and 21st in the global reggae chart.

A selection of Jamaican Steppers cuts from around 1980. Intro with the legendary Roots gem ‘Jah light’ by Twin Roots, recently repressed courtesy of Common Ground International (Jah Fingers/RootsTing). Quite a few LP cuts with beautiful vocals and horns from 2 killer albums, one from Osibert Madoo and the other Barrington Levy. A few Prince Jammy productions and dubs too: ‘Hell and sorrow’ riddim and a couple Black Uhuru classics. Also featured is the classic Sugar Minott production ‘Jah never sleep riddim’ featuring Barry Brown, Robert Emmanuel and Ranking Dread. Dubs featured where available.
