This week, my guest is the wonderful Stephen Morris.
Stephen has written for both popular and academic audiences. His novels, both historical and contemporary fantasy, incorporate authentic medieval and Renaissance occult beliefs and practices as well as local history and legends. Many of the books reintroduce obscure characters from folklore, reveal forgotten aspects of more commonly known folkloric characters, or explore the relationship between the occult and religion. With degrees in medieval history and theology from Yale and St Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Academy, he is a former priest and has served as the Eastern Orthodox chaplain at Columbia University.
I talk to Stephen about his novels, his academic work and the folklore that inspires his work, and, of course, he shares his selections for Apocalypse Books.
