This week, my guest is the fab Pete Slater.
Pete is an art college dropout from the seventies. An accidental poet, he has been writing for about six years now and has been performing for around five and a half – smitten since discovering performance poetry, something he didn’t know existed until he met two guys called The Nearly Dead Poets. Since then he has shared his words at various venues around the North West and beyond, collaborated with an old friend to perform spoken word with cigar box guitar as Muse ‘n’ Blues, and recorded a CD. He has also been working with Insyt Media to share and fuse poetry with young rappers, MCs and beatboxers.
I talk to Pete about his work – and about poetry in general. And, of course, he shares his selections for Apocalypse Books.
