This week, I’ll be talking about Broughton House. I’ll be joined in the studio by Owen Hammond, who works in the military museum at Broughton House.
Broughton House was founded as a hospital for soldiers in 1917, by William Coates. In the summer of 1916, hospitals across the North West were struggling to cope with the influx of casualties of WWI. Broughton House was ready to receive its first patient in May 1917, and it continues to offer care to veterans to this day.
I’ll be talking to Owen about the history of Broughton House, its military museum, and the ambitious plans for its future.
In addition to this, I’ll be taking my usual look through Yesterday’s Papers. And – in the second hour of the show – I’ll be sharing an exciting announcement about one of North Manchester’s iconic (but somewhat dilapidated) buildings.
