This week, I’m going to be looking at slightly more recent history, as I’ll be talking about the Electric Circus in Collyhurst.
Last week saw the sad news of the death of Pete Shelley, founder member (with Howard Devoto) of Buzzcocks. Given that Buzzcocks (allegedly) signed their first contract on the bar of the Electric Circus, I thought it seemed fitting to give a bit of attention to the dilapidated bingo hall in Collyhurst that, for a short time, was the heart of Manchester’s punk scene.
In addition to this, I’ll be taking my usual look through Yesterday’s Papers. And you can pit your wits against the Who Am I? quiz – just how well do you know North Manchester’s landmark buildings?
