2004: Ah, the early days of Hammondbeat. We were just about to release our 3rd album "Italian Playboys" (The Link Quartet), hence there being only one Hammondbeat song in the mix. This collection was part of a mix swap that we conducted a few times over a couple of years on our message board and it's kind of all over the place, but the theme was a heavy lounge/Shibuya-kei sound that I had obsessed with from 1994 to about 2001 before the soul-funk obsession took over and eventually created the Hammondbeat phenomenon. The set ends with The Prisoners cover of "Hush" as something of a metaphor that the label was beginning to dominate the way I listened to music - that being in a much less passive/consumer way.
