Playing tracks by
Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, Edwin Starr, Kim Weston and more.
Playing soul and dance music spanning the 60s through to the 80s, including a huge smattering of Motown and, of course, the obligatory Davis musings. Anything can happen in two hours and usually does!
Motown's 60th Birthday party in music! On the very day, 12 January 1959, that a young Berry Gordy borrowed $800 to start his record company is celebrated in true fashion. Sharon plays the first single on the Tamla label plus a couple more, gives name checks to all the Motown acts and fans and friends she's met or yet to meet, and visits as many artists that time allowed. Needless to say, the party will continue next week with more music from those acts who weren't included. Happy Birthday Motown!
