Ken Sykora's Film and Radio themes
A compilation of some of Ken Sykora's compositions written for the 1954 film Passing Stranger and 3 private recordings of themes for radio programmes.
The Passing Stranger theme and song are based on the traditional Folk song East Virginia Blues. The song sung by Lonnie Donegan was released two years later in 1956 once Donegan had become a Skiffle star. A music sheet for Kybosh Serenade was found in Ken's archive containing words but only the instrumental version has remained. It features in the film but it is unclear if it was written by Ken specifically for the film as it was often performed by the Ken Sykora Six.
Ken composed many themes for radio and also TV but only a few copies remain. Ken's first version of the Guitar Club theme was found in his archive along with other suggested themes for BBC programmes.
