Born Dave Jones, Zed Bias has been an integral piece of UK club music’s fabric for over a decade. Recording under the Zed Bias name, as well as Maddslinky and as one half of Phuturistix, his productions – including the seminal ‘Neighbourhood’, which is still an anthem today – proved lasting influences on the UK garage and broken beat scenes, and were later picked up as touchstones for the young dubstep and grime movements, featuring on the Martin Clark-compiled Roots of Dubstep compilation for Tempa, and cited by Skream as a particularly prominent inspiration on his music.
To celebrate his new album Make A Change, he recorded two mixes for FACT. The first is a dip into Zed’s personal vaults; a mix of old school garage, house and broken beat that effortlessly swings from rough to smooth, with a touch of class that only someone with Jones’ experience can bring to the table.
