Innerspace Transmit The Off-World Disco (A)

Innerspace Transmit The Off-World Disco (A)

Playing tracks by

Blood On the Wall, Saint Leidal the 2nd, Atlas Sound, Sneaks, Boy Harsher and more.

This set is the first of 2 that aim to encapsulate the various dance musics I've been most drawn to the past few months. It's kind of the inverse of the ethos I use when recording my "Rough Cut" sets, in that, these songs have been meticulously sequenced, their timings and transitions worked out over many hours and failed attempts at recording it all in 1 take. The process has been s u p e r draining, but I am also incredibly proud that I finally nailed it, and can present it to all you lovelies out there.
Part A focuses on offbeat, somewhat dark, disco and indie-dance vibes, with some eclectic choices to keep ya'll on your toes throughout. As I've assembled it over the past few months, it's taken on a very "rave-in-space" type of vibe that I hope inspires some other-worldly bouts of dancing :)

Wasn't sure what to expect as I'm not really a disco fan whatsoever but for me this was distanced from what I usually associate a disco sound with. I love the retro electro and synth-wave stuff; admittedly a guilty pleasure of mine. I really enjoyed the cosmic vibes here and all the great vintage synth sounds and textures I was able to pick out. I have a Prophet 6 which is considered modern vintage, but this made me want to go right home and start making patches. This was another angle of your musical scope and I really liked it. Nice work, LKDJ.

I'm really glad to have your astute ear turned towards my sets Goingrey. I was unsure of how to label this set; as you pointed out there's elements of disco in a lot of the songs, but they're more in line with synth-wave or italo, and certainly a lot darker than typical disco. I always forget about electro, and seems a lot closer to the vibe, even though, for me, that label immediately brings to mind Newcleus or "Rockit" (which, maybe, is a bit unfair ;)
ANYWHO, I'm really glad you took the chance on this and that you were inspired to synthesize with that Prophet 6 (sounds like a rare joy to work on). Also, I really appreciate your attention and that you give such quality feedback. Cheers!

Nicely put together. Can imagine the relief actually after trying it so many times.
Took me a while to get used to this one i'll be honest. But i like it, nice tripped out disco vibes.

Low Key DJ

Rick!! thanks for taking a chance on this one, even after it didn't immediately capture your interest. that beginning is almost it's own separate trip entirely :P

The Kazuho Itoh artwork is interesting.. like some sort interstellar pulmonary, renal, adrenal, circulatory systems. My only question is 'what is the waste product and can it help save us'?

Could it be a 'Fountain of Good Fortune' like the song suggest? I can dream can't I?

Low Key DJ

Hahaha, one can only hope good friend!
for whatever reason I didn't notice that the artwork is pretty much of our internal systems, and am realizing that "Innerspace" was oddly accurate :) really glad you stopped in and dug on them disco vibes iCazo, much love
