On this, the 40th anniversary of Music For Airports, we explore the music and career of it's creator Brian Eno along with some very special guests. We discuss the working method Eno developed in his formative years in the 70's with journalist and author Geeta Dayal. We speak to author and critic Simon Reynolds about Eno's fertile New York phase of the late 70's and early 80's, and we are also joined by ambient artist and founder of the Room40 label, Lawrence English who considers Eno's contribution to ambient music and how his ideas have shaped the genre's development. Most importantly we listen to Eno's music, from our personal favourites to his underappreciated gems.
