I’m impressed were Squeeze ever big in the USA? For those not seen them: http://youtu.be/UZCPyuAJNeg Featuring a very young Jools Holland on keys.

We played them a bit; but I can't remember how big they were. Didn't make the connection to Jools. How'se about that!

I wanna be there
Drinkin' in the morning
holler in the evening
Dr Jazz, Dr Jazz
bake my jelly roll
you quicken my pulse
make my rhythm slow
crawfish, gumbo
rhythm from the jungle
big chief rocking
follow the voodoo king
oola, mola, wola, dollar
that's what the fess, he sing

BTW...'fess' = Professor Longhair

Maybe on a Sunday
head for Baton Rouge
dancing with a Cajun
twisting away my blues
then a drop of rain
trickle on my eyes
i look up and smile
at the rhythm
that never never dies

Nicely rendered, 2T...for our purely jazz listeners...lyrics above mostly adapted from the band, Squeeze; their album 'Frank'. To which I reply (courtesy of Lord Buckley): Hipsters, flipsters and finger-poppin' daddies,
Knock me your lobes! .....
The 'bad' jazz that a cat blows
Wails long after he's cut out,
The groovy is often stashed with their frames.

Thanks, Tony!

Chitlins Con Carne - funky flute :) Hindustan - the complete opposite of the music I expected - thought it wonderful, Elephants Wobble was exactly what I expected - Fun!! The leap was a fine way to start your second hour and a nice reminder of Horace talents (also he was the sidekick to Miles, because who knew? save yourself and all your other jazz enthusiasts ;) no closing vocal track? Just when I second guess the Doctor - he goes and changes routine... bah! Busy day here again Dr J, hope it's calmer in your corner :)

Busy here assembling an invited symposium talk, and getting ready to grill a PhD candidate at their final thesis defense. Glad we can still surprise you. In November one of our many alter egos will make a guest appearance [hint: Dr. 2nd Line Funkenstein:)]. Cheers, DrJ

The music just flowed and I ended up listening to the show twice! Enjoyed it both times.

You got me through another day Dr. Jazz!

Thanks, Ms. D. Art Blakey and I agree. Jazz should wash away the cares of everyday life. Glad we could assist. Cheers, DrJ

Thank you for what is my introduction to the Benny Moten Orchestra, and liked the interesting juxtaposition with Diana Krall's group --it's fun to listen for signposts of where certain techniques might have come from:)

Glad you enjoyed the Moten set. I think that presenting this sort of set is important for the listener to hear, as well as highly entertaining. We will do similar sets, on occasion, in the weeks to come. As always, thanks for your ears. Cheers, DrJ

Bold and adventurous show : I love the subtlety in which the approach and attacked inside all segment were delivered : It minded me of a method that related to the ART of War by Sun Tuzu Have a good week ahead DJ : )

Just having fun with music in Part 1, and letting music history speak for itself in the other 3 segments. A good 'day at the office'! Have a great week. Cheers, DrJ
