The Soul Preacher

Wonderful journey Dr. I gotta say I liked Clifford Brown’s sweet and slow rendition of "Embraceable You" in particular. I have a very nice cover version by Johnny "Guitar" Watson of that tune. A real early album of his when he was just Johnny Watson and can be seen with a saxophone on the cover! Thanks also for introducing the Leon Thomas track. I only knew him from a collaboration with saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis. A very nice tune here! And I could see Lee Konitz live in my city this year as well as talked to him a little. A silent but very fine player. Thanks.

It takes a refined ear to appreciate Clifford with strings! Konitz lived in my neighborhood when I was a kid growing up in Queens (NYC). Unfortunately, this was before I had acquired a saxophone; otherwise, I might have learned something!

The Lemon Circus

Busy show this week - not only for you Dr J, but for me also - just enough time to say appreciate the show and made the office seem more classy than it actually is... Although it's usually me that brings it down :)
