MIDNIGHT DREAD headlining META MIX Reggae On The River, California, 8/4/2002 DJ DOUG WENDT

Playing tracks by

Mouse on Mars & secret stuff..., Beats International, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Junior Reid & The Soup Dragons and Ba-Benzele Pygmies.

Headlining DJ at the 19th Annual Reggae On The River, Doug Wendt (Midnight Dread Sound System) had the crowd of nearly 20,000 rockin' steady & screaming for more with this transcendent set. Just after Lucky Dube left the stage the redwoods arena remained rammed to the hilt in anticipation of Burning Spear's closing performance as Wendt, who DJed at ROTR, 'the world's greatest reggae festival' for 20 years straight, layered his sounds with precision in his August 4th, 2002 META MIX. Gasps & cries of approval rose from the crowd with each segue & flourish. CDs of his sets at various Reggae On The Rivers are available here: http://www.midnightdread.com/online.html This headlining set from Doug ended with Lincoln Thompson & The Rasses "Mechanical Devices", Third World "Lives In The Balance", Wyclef Jean "Redemption Song", Reggae Cowboys "Reggae On The River", Dr. Ring Ding "Ram Di Dance", Mutabaruka "What About The Land", Morwells "Educate Your Mind", & Junior Murvin's "I Was Appointed".

Should happen more often, that's what I think. Every week or so would be about right.
