JAMC inspirations & Influences - Jim Reid 1985 mix

Asked to compile a mix of music that reflected the records The Jesus And Mary Chain were listening to in the early days, frontman Jim Reid sent us this selection and commented - "This is typical of the music we were listening to during the year of Psychocandy, anyone of these songs could have appeared on band compilation tapes that were listened to on the tour bus etc. Any of the songs could have been selected by any band member".

I love this. Reminds me of 1985 when me and my JAMC-clone boyfriend would stalk outside Jim Reid's house in Kentish Town all day, badgering him and begging to chat. Must have been slightly bemusing for him. He was nice though and put us on the guest list for their ULU gig. Magic.

Back then this was the soundtrack blasting from my bruvs room with the exception of The The New Order and Orange Juice trax which I was trying to drown him out with. Then oor Da would come home from work and turn the electricity off at the mains.

The Jesus and Mary Chain saved my life in the Eighties. This mix is a joy to behold. Thanks Jim. x

That selection went down just like candy. Sweet!
