It's been over two years since the last instalment of Calypso Cruise, so here it finally is - volume ten! We set sail for Trinidad with excursions to the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Bermuda. Classic calypso and hot instrumentals from the 1950s and '60s, selected from original LPs and 45s. Enjoy!
40th in the world Chart
74th in the jazz Chart
Is there a listing of the songs? I'd love to see if I can find them anywhere.
Sorry, I do provide a full tracklist to Mixcloud so I don't know why you can't see the titles and artists. This website is weird! Anyway the instrumental you like is "Calypso Vicki" by Fitz Vaughan Bryan.
Fabulous music! What's the instrumental about halfway through?
A strong mix -- good work, Danny!
thank you!
unfortunately i've played his sets to death as well - his tropical and early rumba collection is good..but im not big on the general "world" music..anyone else i may have missed out? Even youtube offers few upploaders specific to 30's/40's rumba..besides the usual overplayed tunes. PS another cat i really like is Nat Gonella..but again ive played all his tunes to death as well.
i think the early CUBAN rumba is the best..
great set - i wish you could do early an early rumba set, 30's/40's, it seems rumba is much harder to come by besides the overplayed tunes like peanut vendor/lecouona cuban boys etc
check out La_Isla_Encantada here on Mixcloud... they have lots of beautiful 1930s, '40s and '50s rumba. you will love it!
cheers folks!
Great fun session. Really enjoyed it...
thanks for listening! i'm glad you enjoyed it.
Worth the wait. Excellent selection of all "new" sounds. Several bands unknown to me. Thanks very much Danny. Keep up the good work - your quality control is great.
thanks for your kind comment. especially regarding quality control. i really appreciate it!

thanks, i'm glad you enjoy it!
