Playing tracks by
Stephnew, Roy Ayers, Mayer Hawthorne, Weldon Irvine, Jimmy mcgriff and more.
This time around i've started off with a cheeky white label mix of Charles Stephney produced tracks, a great start i hope you'll agree. Then straight into "We live in Brooklyn, baby" by the superb Roy Ayers from '71. Following that up with a great track on the Stones Throw label, "Maybe so, Maybe no" by Mayer Hawthorne, recorded in 2009. Jazz-funk is our next musical genre on our journey with 2 tracks from Weldon Irvine & Jimmy McGriff. Then something completely different by Cannonball Adderley in the guise of "Something different" (see what i did there, clever huh') . Up next is Ted Curzon's cuban flavoured "Fire down below",after which "Kevin Devin" chimes in with its great Vibes intro.... Blue note records are represented here by Big John Patton with his '65 monster "Latona". Tito, Eddie & Cal do their latin thing too. We then hit Vocal territory, Eddie Jefferson giving us his vocal versions of Herbie's "Chameleon" & Miles' "So what?" Mark Murphy & Jon Lucien finish things up....
