The "45's" mix

Playing tracks by

Opensouls, Esther Williams, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Breakestra, Plantlife and more.

Something a lil' different from me, An hour of Funk! 45's vinyl only...Kicking things off with "Turn it up" by the opensouls . Next up Esther Williams' timeless "Last night changed it all" , followed by "Settling in" by the Mighty Sharon Jones & the Dap-kings on Daptone. Straight outta L.A. comes Miles Tackett's Breakestra with "Recognize" on Ubiquity recs. We then hear tracks from Plantlife, The Universals,Marie "Queenie" Lyons....
Then a change of mood with the excellent "Heavy soul slinger" from the Awesome drums of Bernard Purdie released on Flying Dutchman, produced by Bob Theile... Then a few European tracks (!!!) by Poets of Rhythm from Germany and The Stance Brothers from Sweden, not that you'd know!!
Up next with Bamboos backed 2009 release "It's on" on Brighton's Tru Thoughts label we have Kylie Auldist. A few more tracks then the finale with The Kenny Dope produced "Aftershower funk" by The Fantastic souls on Kaydee recs from this year, Enjoy..

Great Stuff! peace
