A live recording of my warm up set at this month's Groove Temple. I intentionally 'held back' to leave space for the guest (and main DJ) playing after me so as to not burn the dance floor. It's called 'warm up slot' for a reason ;) It's a downtempo-midtempo night, so the BPM's never get too high, and the music never gets excessively hectic. Every song was chosen in the moment, sometimes at the last possible minute; something that's easier to do if you're playing only one genre of music, but potentially much more challenging when you're spanning multiple genres and sounds. I had a problem with one song in Traktor where it gave the wrong bpm info (after the 2nd Earthrise Soundsystem track) that threw me for a loop and off course, but I ran with it, and dropped to 70 bpm dub, and then eventually brought it back up but deeper. An example of dealing with the unexpected I suppose. Thanks to LP Day for the artwork. I hope you enjoy! DJ Neerav
