"Bassed" on the second half of my inaugural set at the launch of Groove Temple, february 1st in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The idea of the night is to share mid tempo bass, ethno, and spirit music with our friends and family, introducing them to the sounds we love.
This mix is largely inspired by the West Coast and Australian bass music pioneers, and champions of that sound such as Adham Shaikh. For anyone on the West Coast, this sound may be standard fare, but I assure you, here on the East Coast the sound is just starting to catch on. I threw a bit of a latin sound in to warm things up and honour my heritage; also a bit of a gypsy-balkan thing in the middle (very well represented by the local SpeakEasy crew here in Montreal).
Thanks to LP Day (DJ Eoka) for the graphic artwork.
Our next Groove Temple night is Saturday, March 8th with myself, DJ Patrick Gagnon, and DJ Khalil (of SpeakEasy).
I hope you'll join us if you're town, and I hope you enjoy the mix!
