Here's the first part of my opening set for our new downtempo / ethno fusion/ bass groove / spirit trance night called "Groove Temple". I came in with a bunch of acoustic dub stuff (live bands) but quickly realized a different, more 'polished' or 'shiny' sound was required, and started digging through my collection of 70 BPM stuff. I ended up playing a lot of Interchill artists (Sun Monx, Liquid Stranger, Spiral System) and friends …basically all geniuses when it comes to this sound. As a dj, I've always followed the dancers, and always believed in building waves within waves, and leaving space between waves occasionally. I enjoy letting a wave peak out and then breaking it down into something smoother before building it up again. I find this allows the dancers to reach some deeper spaces they might not get to, and allows the yin/feminine energy to be nourished on the dance floor as well. Thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoy!
