Playing tracks by
Mr. Lee, Marshall Jefferson, Tyree Cooper, Farley 'Jackmaster' Funk & Jessie Saunders, Steve 'Silk' Hurley and more.
Here's a flashback set to commemorate some of the tracks that dominated the Chicago House music scene in the '80s and '90s. This is a pulsating, non-stop hour of hits. Listen for the distinctive, runaway, Roland TR - 808 percussion, made famous in this city. Mr. Lee kicks off the mix hard with "Pump Up Chicago," followed by Tyree Cooper, the 49ers, Risse, with "House Train," and moving on to DJ/Producer Bad Boy Bill and a mini-Blackbox medley. The mix wraps with a changeup in style, and a three song soulful medley, with music from the '70s. Turn it up and sing along with Pockets "Come and Go With Me." Next, it's Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes with their scorcher, "The Love I Lost." The finale takes us to the anthem for you and me: "I Love Music" by the O'Jays, with a wonderful remix from Joey Negro.
Thank you for listening, following and sharing my mixes. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did making it. Mixed live on 7-12-2016. 59 minutes.
