Wide Open Road is a podcast celebrating Australian (and occasionally Kiwi) indie music from the 1980s through to now. The show will explore the lineages and linkages that ignited the scene after scene of great Aussie music. On this show, we start with our namesake and a triple play connected with the late, great Dave McComb, linking the Triffids to the the Blackeyed Susans. The second set is themed around the G0-Betweens starting with one of their great early singles 'Karen', linking to 8 pictures, a great track from 'Before Hollywood'. After that it gets weird with three tracks linked by Smudges 'don't wanna be Grant Mclennan'. The last set is linked through the late band 'Modern Giant' featuring the brilliant spoken word of Adam Gibson. Produced by Simon Holmes (the track 'Gone' by the Hummingbirds) and featuring Gynia Favot (Enemy by Disneyfist), the track Angie Hart is an brilliant evocation of what moving to melbourne means, and that leads us to 'labour of love' by Frente.
