Wide Open Road 2012 - Falling over backwards

Playing tracks by

The Saints , The Aints, Chris Bailey, The Killjoys, Red lantern and more.

Welcome to Wide Open Road 2012. Out first shows kicks it hard to the kerb with the 3 tracks from early Saints EPs. We hear Lipstick on your collar, the old Connie Francis ditty, followed by a flip called L-I-E-S and finally a track from the first post Ed Kuepper EP called ‘On the Waterfront’ from 1980. You don’t get away from the Saints just yet with another 3 connected tunes, this time L-I-V-E. We start with The Aints, Ed’s ‘tribute’ outfit doing Erotic Neurotic. We move to a prehistoric version of I’m Stranded from 1974 and finally Chris Bailey chills with a late Saints classic from his live album ’Encore’. Next we move to one of the most underrated bands in Australia, Melbourne’s Killjoys. The lustrous tones of Anna Burley link these 3 tracks. The 1st from the recently re-issued album ‘Ruby’, the 2nd from her solo outfit, Red Lantern and its only EP ‘Threnody’ and to a track from their 2011 come back, the title track ‘Pearl’. for more,
