Opening with Basoski’s tangfastic, disco twirl reworking of Aria’s ‘Party in Miami 2011’ seemed relevant, as did featuring two tracks of CR2’s rather special ‘Miami 2011’ compilation - ‘Slipped Disc’ stays in the disco filtered vein, revisiting Thomas Bangalter’s ‘Spinal Scratch’ and later Newson & Ronko’s ‘Holy Grounds’ indiscriminately scorches the mainfloor planks. Tips for the Miami WMC top this week are without doubt David Tort & gosha’s ‘One Look’ (fabulous Norman Doray mix there and the package is solid all round), Diddy Dirty Money’s ‘Coming Home’ (Dirty South deconstructing it for dancefloor consumption) and Avicii’s ‘Street Dancer’ which has been around for a while but now has the Congorock-esque ‘Two Fresh’ remix to breathe new life into the beast. And Miami wouldn’t be Miami without its unique freaks – check Mark Simmons ‘heartache’ for a trance electro Tina Turner revisit that’ll make you smile from ear to ear. Enjoy.
