A question and answer session with Boris Cyrulnik, the French doctor, ethologist, neurologist, and psychiatrist.
"All of us suffer from trauma in our lives, whether it be a difficult childhood or a violent experience. This work on the healing power of resilience helps us to understand ourselves and our pasts. It shows us how we are changed by trauma, but that we can choose either to submit to it as if it were our destiny, or break free and come back to life."
As a child, Boris Cyrulnik escaped Nazi searches by hiding under a false name. His survival of Nazi destruction motivated his career into psychiatry. He wrote several books of popular science on psychology. He is known in France for developing and explaining to the public the concept of psychological resilience.
