Paul Weller's "little Motown wannabe", Respond, a record label he started and managed when The Jam were still playing, but making sense only with The Style Council early years. Some successful singles, by Tracie, some contemporary funk by The Questions and The Main T Posse, some inspired cover versions (Sister Sledge, Heatwave, Isley Brothers, Costello), their own H/D/H team (A-Craze), Paul, Mickey T and Whitey putting their hand and heart very often in the production. It lasted only a couple of years, then, for a while it was "sold" to Polydor 'cos Weller lost interest (and probably money). This is my own selection, not a real "Respond Greatest Hits" but the songs I still like to play 25 years later. Most of the rest of their production is "too eighties, thin and synth" and I can't stand it anymore. Waiting for the European CD re-release of their catalogue, this podcast is coming from 90s Japan CDs source (Trattoria).
