About the show
Playing tracks by
Lolas, The Diggers, Fraternal Order Of The All, The Rutles, The Back Pack and more.
One week in mid september, with very few new releases in my hands to play at the radio, and a sort of "dj's block" growing, I didn't know how to arrange my weekly show. Then, listening to some good "Beatles inspired" compilations from the Powerpop Lovers website I had the bright idea to select my fave 17 tracks, put them in chronological order and make an hour of great (and sometimes obscure) "beat-pop". Avoiding some obvious choices like ELO, Utopia, Tears For Fears and Oasis's own Beatles pastiques, I have also excluded all the bands doing early merseysound and blatant ripoffs (..but the Rutles!). That's why I am still very happy by the result: no doubts about the general "B-factor", but most of the songs walk on their own legs as good pop, popsike and powerpop, enjoyable even if you're not a Fab4 fan/obsessive. (originally "on air" @ MRUK as CSS #37, sept. 2010)
