"We put on this old 7-inch by Mickey and the Soul Generation which was a rare groove record with a mad rock guitar intro and no beat. I started vary speeding it so it sounded all warped. Chris Bangs got on the microphone and said, 'If that was acid house, this is acid jazz'. That's how acid jazz started, just a joke!" Gilles Peterson

This is the current episode on streaming at MRUK. Completely dedicated to the AJ scene, focused on the late 80s early 90s productions. A "sound" I was really into at the time, a "sound" I someway was searching to keep me out of the silky contemporary US soul/r&b I was buying, a "sound" mixing my mod heritage with new perspectives and techiques, a "now sound" infact. The evolution of the species. This selection is far from being anthological or complete, there are many bands I havent included (with only 75 mins its almost impossible). But there are some of me faves and curios from the Acid Jazz, Talkin' Loud and Urban labels. Enjoy! the cap
