Amidst all the political activity in Ferguson, the library has, for the most part, remained open even as other municipal services and the school closed. The library’s commitment to serving its community attracted the attention of the twittersphere and beyond and people have been donating money, books, their skills and their time.
In this interview, we spoke with the library Director Scott Bonner over the phone from his office at Ferguson Municipal Public Library about how he makes decisions about the library within the context of the protests and what libraries do.
