Leeds Trolleybus Public Enquiry Day 3: May 1 2014 Early Afternoon Session.

About the show

On the first session of the afternoon of the third day of the Leeds Trolleybus Enquiry, May 1, 2014, Chris Foren, Chair of the A660 Joint Council of community groups from along the A660 cross examined Martin Farrington.

A number of surprising gaps in his knowledge of the proposed route and its impact were elicited, the most glaring of which was that he said he couldn't bring to mind the fields on Headingley Hill which would be lost. Opponents of the NGT trolleybus scheme will find this extraordinary as this is the largest piece of greenspace affected on the route and includes a number of superb mature trees dating from the nineteenth century. He also acknowledged that Headingley is short of greenspace, so this gap in his knowledge is even more alarming since he is apparently unaware of what he proposes to destroy.
