Not often associated, the New York BIG CITY SOUND and THE Chicago SOUND do have more in common than generaly admited I believe. And it’s not some 700 miles that are going to prove otherwise. Listen and hear the similarities in those two cities’ sixties musical productions ; their dedication for perfection in wide, filled or spared orchestration, big productions, catchy compositions, slick band orchestrations and tip-top arrangements… all of that put together in a commercial recording. Technicity meets artistry to provide some of the best orchestrated black popular music that no other cities could contineously carry like those two did for more than a decade. While I really don’t diss the other BIG SOUNDS like the Philly, LA or Detroit sounds at all stating this, but they were only rarelly as sophisticated, polished and balanced all together IMHO. Bon Appetit !
