This week's mix is a blistering techno affair, inspired by darker dancefloors. The loping sounds of WeirdGear and Microtrauma draw you in with snatches of melody, before you Enter The Void. An amazing new piece from Ryan Davis & Electric Rescue sets the tone of what's to come: harsher sounds and a dynamic ebb and flow.
Unexpected symphonic strings, from Gayle San of all people, provide a moment's respite, before we enter the the multi-layered middle section. Cogs whir and machines bleep, as textured techno from the likes of Kirk Degiorgio, Ben Sims and Marcel Dettmann are blended to perfection.
An extended sequencer work detours from the dancefloor into seedy darkroom territory. It's a brief interlude before a big finish. The cartoon samples and massive beats of Kill The Looney provide a climax, before the machnines finally sing in the ultimate track.
A necessary human element is provided by Tom Hiddleston, with readings of Romantics Keats and Byron adding contrast to the mix.
