Raoul Wallenberg Centennial - Justice Minister Alan Shatter reflects on The Shoah.

12/September/2012 was the centenary of the birth of Raoul Wallenberg, and to pay due regard to the man, and his deeds, a conference was organised in Trinity College Dublin by the embassies of Hungary, Israel and Sweden.Alan Shatter, Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence opened the event by paying tribute to the life and heroic efforts work of Raul Wallenberg to save the lives of Budapest's Jewish communities. He offers powerful insights into how The Shoah should be portrayed and recalled, while roundly condemning those who would deny it ever happened. He counsels the audience against neglecting the moral dimensions of all actions, and cautions against believing that cultural sophistication is any safeguard against a descent barbarism by reminding the audience that the Nazis listened to Schubert in the evening before killing men, women and children the next morning.
