Here's my contribution to Mothers Day. Always a mother first and a woman second. I no longer have mothers of my own to salute - but I do know a whole shitload of women I want to salute. This is for all of you.

Nevertheless this is going to be dedicated to only one woman and she's Elizabeth Warren. You are one of my heroes. You go, girl!

Please give another listen beyond this cloudcast to Ellen McIlwaine. Fantastic guitarist, wonderfully expressive voice, and she's made some very interesting recording choices. If nothing else, listen to what she does on "Ode To Billy Joe".

Katie Webster was Otis Redding's pianist. She was back in New Orleans with family when his plane went down. She never made it mainstream despite a strong, seductive voice coupled with some big and bouncy boogie-woogie on the piano. Go figure.

Deborah Coleman's a Boomer, she's Black, and she's one helluva Blues Artist. And yeah, that IS her guitar on "I'm A Woman".
