Merry Christmas And All That Jazz

Playing tracks by

Rickey Woodard, Etta James, The Frank Vignola Quintet, Eden Atwood, Eddie Daniels and more.

Here's my first collection of jazz Christmas tunes. It should work as an interesting musical backdrop to holiday dinners or cocktail parties.

Some highlights:

The Frank Vignola Quintet's "Jingle Bells" has some great syncopation going on between the guitar and drums.

Kevin Eubanks gives one of my favorite tunes, "Silver Bells", a delightful up-tempo twist. You probably recognize him from the years he led the Tonight Show Band for Jay Leno.

Ramsey Lewis heads in the other direction with "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town", slowing it way down and turning it into a blues number.

I LOVE Gene Harris and "I'll Be Home For Christmas" is yet another reason why.

"Christmas Love Song" is certainly not one of the tunes we grew up humming. But Scott Hamilton's sax is just so . . . Christmasey, I had to include it.

This is dedicated to the folks at NORML. I can't believe we still can't decriminalize marijuana in this country. Please support their efforts at
