Playing tracks by
Jerry Lee Lewis.
Drinking Scotch, thinking a lot about my old man. He introduced me to the country side of Jerry Lee Lewis when I was a young man. I loved it. Recently I tried finding some of the tunes I still know the words to after all these years and was surprised and dismayed to find so many of them lost to the digital age.
Well, praise The Lord for LP collectors because I was able to find "There Must Be More To Love Than This", "Would You Take Another Chance On Me", and "Who's Gonna Play This Old Piano" on vinyl and in excellent shape for recording. Only six or seven of these songs are available in mp3 or CD format.
How can the music world would turn its back on tunes with lyrics like:
- The one time I'm an honest man is when I come here to cheat.
- My broken heart is not enough to keep her satisfied. Oh Lord, I think she's reaching for my mind.
- I hope there's a wall around heaven so Mama can't see me down here.
So *Happy Father's Day, Dad. Thanks.
