Late 50s - Early 60s. Saddle oxfords and ducktails and petticoats and beehives. Brylcreem slapped on his hair and Kleenex stuffed in her bra and then off to the Senior Prom. Later, up and down Main Street checking out who’s at the malt shop or the drive-in. Then off to a secluded spot. Tunes like these wafting out of the AM radio’s dashboard speaker in your Dad’s fin-mobile.
Don’t remember any of that, do you? How about running as hard as you can around the playground to escape somebody that’s trying to give you cooties. Having to choose Valentine’s cards for every single member of the opposite sex in your class. Not a clue as to where babies come from but knowing it’s something to do with kissing.
If that’s what you remember and AARP has already sent you an invite in the mail then these tunes give a whole ‘nuther meaning to Senior Prom. Let the dance begin.
This one’s dedicated to my first “puppy love”, Helen Zimmerman (1961, 4th Grade, Eglin AFB).
