From the West Coast of Canada, it’s Episode 164 of The Captain Maniac Show! It was indeed an unfortunate coincidence that last week’s installment was titled “Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire”, because as of this writing (July 9, 2017) the province of British Columbia is under a state of emergency due to the widespread forest fires. Some interior towns are under evacuation notice, and it’s a miserable predicament!

For the rest of us, though, it’s “business as usual”, so we therefore present a theme show devoted entirely to trains! A show with a Loco Motive! Every song has something to do with rail travel, so we get off to a roaring start with Joey Shithead from DOA, who pops in to introduce the show. Staying topical, we also include a NORAD warning about a North Korean nuclear missile launch, only we must stress that this is entirely fictional, OK? Anyway, on with the show — all aboard!

Loved the Chicken Man intro

The Captain Maniac Show

Wow, and I didn't think anybody would even know who Chicken Man is/was!

Vics Radio Special

Wow lots of train songs come to mind here. You gotta do a part 2. Maybe I'll have to do a train themed show. Bob Dylan, Slow train comin, Albert Hammond, I'm a train, even one of my own songs, Glorytrain. Not to mention Johnny Cash who did an endless array of train songs.

The Captain Maniac Show

Thanks, Vic -- yup, this is only the first train show, because there are so many more that I was unable to include due to time constraints! One that comes to mind is "Station Man' by Fleetwood Mac, but I'm sure I must have already played that one somewhere!

Johnny Switchblade

Great episode, Captain! I especially liked hearing Los Lobos... who have more than one train song! I liked the one you picked. I also liked your comments on Aerosmith -- O, how they have changed over the decades.

The Captain Maniac Show

You are always welcome, Johnny, and if memory serves, the other Los Lobos train song is "Everybody Loves a Train" (which will have to wait for an extension show!).

Johnny Switchblade

Correctamundo -- I have a Los Lobos live show where they play the two songs back to back: it's Train Time, woo woo. Lol. An extension show? Sounds good -- it can be the caboose!

Hunny Bunny Baby

I'll look forward to that; I lived thru the rock, prog rock and heavy rock evolutions that came after '60s pop and do harbour some affection for certain numbers but my heart was stolen by Elvis while I was still but a bump and little else has moved me in the same way since. I keep sneaking back to that beat that grabs me in the gut and tingles ma toes, but always try to maintain an open mind and ears ;) x

Big "Like", as they say on Facebook!

Hunny Bunny Baby

Love it, great selection and one of my favourite themes. Apparently it's 3 years since I've done one tho, shame on me :O I will endeavour to remedy that soon, according to my itunes I've 174 chuffin' toons looking for a new home lol. These are my old 'uns -

It's great to be back, have really enjoyed having a catch up, but back to work (voluntary) properly tomoro :/ I can see I'm gonna have to ask my boy to put some of these in my phone lol, since I lost my ipod, boo hoo, during panto. See if I can't squeeze another playlist in first tho eh, addictive or what?!

The Captain Maniac Show

Thanks once again for tuning, in HBB! Yes, once I'd started doing a train theme, I soon realized I'd opened a Pandora's Box to reveal a treasure trove of this type of material (I enjoyed your Choo Choo Blues show, by the way). I guess by now you've figured out that a lot of my choices tend to be of the classic rock persuasion, so watch for another Train Kept A Rollin soon!
