Over the years, Crazy P have always retained a sense of glorious lack of pretension. Their seventh album and first for !K7 Records (in conjunction with their own Walk Don’t Walk label), Walk Talk Dance Sing, does exactly what you expect it to do but that’s the whole point; when you’ve already got the poppy choruses, pinging pianos and funky guitars down to perfection then why bother switching it up?
Their live shows are where the band really come alive and it’s no criticism to say that their songwriting has always been primarily geared towards that. That said, the band’s mix for us is less about ostentatious performance than a journey through myriad of their favourite genres, including boogie from Joey Negro, disco from Neil Diablo an an appearance from Four Tet under his Percussions alias.
