Marlene Monteiro Freitas is a striking Cape Verdean dancer & choreographer, known as the enfant terrible of contemporary choreography. At the moment she’s doing really well with her baroque aesthetic and surreal images.
She was member and co-founder of the dance group Compass and collaborated with the musician Vasco Martins. She did dance studies at P.A.R.T.S., at E.S.D. and at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisbon). She regularly works with Emmanuelle Huynn, Loic Touzé, Tânia Carvalho, Boris Charmatz, among others.
In October 2014 Marlene Monteiro Freitas visits Beursschouwburg with the performances Paradise (Private collection).
